 The cost of restoration of the building of the Ukrainian House, the national center of business and cultural cooperation, in Kyiv after protests in and autumn and winter of 2013-2014 and the reconstruction, is assessed at Hr 40 million and more, the director of the Ukrainian House State Enterprise (Kyiv) Yuriy Stelmachuk said at a press conference on the occasion of the transfer of humanitarian aid to the enterprise in the form of construction materials, paints by Henkel Bautechnik (Ukraine) from Vyshgorod (Kyiv region), the subsidiary of the largest chemical concern in Europe – Henkel (Germany) in Kyiv on Aug. 14.

“We require Hr 40 million and more to reconstruct, taking into
account the state of the basements, fountains. The movie theatre has
leaks. The roof has to be rebuilt, and many other things require a
thorough reconstruction,” he said, adding that the larger sum will
require for the creation of the international center on the basis of the
Ukrainian House.

Stelmachuk said that Hr 600 million are being sent by the State
Department of Affairs for repair and restoration of the building of the
Ukrainian House, its opening scheduled for Aug. 20 and the holding of
the first event – on Aug. 24, Independence Day.

He said that the final sum and the volumes of restoration works would be determined in the near term.

Around 3,500 meters of power lines are to be restored.

He said that only 30 percent of exhibition equipment left, and the number of
stolen pieces of art from the archive of the Ukrainian House will be
known after the completion of a stocktaking.

He said that as a part of the restoration work using humanitarian aid
from Henkel Bautechnik in the form of 1,000 liters of paint and other
construction materials it is planned to reconstruct over 3,500 square
meters of decoration inside the building.

Marketing Director of Henkel Bautechnik (Ukraine) Olha Stupina said
that the company is ready to participate in the restoration of four
buildings downtown Kyiv: Kyiv City Administration, Kyiv Conservatory,
Zhovtnevy Palace and Ukrainian House.

“We proposed that we allocate around 100 tonnes of products for these
four buildings, which equals to some Hr 400,000, and we’re ready to
give these products after drawing up damage acts as it was at the
Ukrainian House, this is an absolutely transparent procedure,” she sadi.

Henkel Bautechnik (Ukraine) managed to agree the provision of aid only to Ukrainian House with Kyiv authorities, she said.
