The situation near the Verkhovna Rada building has returned to normal. Most of the demonstrators have left the scene and stopped throwing flares.

However, several dozen people without any identification insignia can still be seen in the square. Nothing is happening, an Interfax correspondent reported.

A small group of Ukrainian National Congress members are holding a rally at a distance from the square.

The National Guard has formed three lines of defense at the entrance to the parliament building.

Svoboda activists left the scene in an organized column and moved to Shevchenko Park. The Svoboda leader earlier said that his party had nothing to do with the unrest near the Verkhovna Rada on Tuesday, Oct. 14.

“Unrest has just ended near the Verkhovna Rada. The police used force within the limits stipulated in the law,” Interior Ministry spokesman Anton Heraschenko wrote on Facebook.

Clashes erupted between the police and unidentified assailants near the parliament building on Tuesday after the offenders started throwing flash grenades, flares, sticks and other objects over the police cordon guarding the building. Windows were smashed on the second and third floors. Bullet dents could be seen on the walls.
