You're reading: Tax code protesters voice demands

Demonstrators protesting the new tax code in Kyiv have voiced three demands.

"They are: a veto on the tax code, the disbandment of the parliament, and the suspension of talks with the authorities until the tax code is vetoed," the Center for Rescuing Ukrainian Businesses said in a statement.

Ukraine’s parliamentary speaker signed a new tax code on Friday, following its approval by the parliament, and referred it to the president for signing, sparking a wave of protests in the Ukrainian business community, earlier reports said.

President Viktor Yanukovych said on Saturday that the tax code may be vetoed and warned that dismissal may follow in connection with the situation.
