Leader of the Front for Change Party Arseniy Yatseniuk has said the opposition parties should support the candidacy of UDAR Party Leader Vitaliy Klitschko in the elections for Kyiv mayor.

"The elections [for Kyiv mayor] will take place, and Klitschko should run from the opposition, [as] he has a fair chance to win," he told journalists in Kyiv on Monday.

Yatseniuk said he thinks that Kyiv mayoral elections will take place this summer before the Euro 2012 European Football Championship, which starts on June 8.

According to him, the elections may be held in the summer, a week before Euro 2012.

According to the Front for Change leader, recent opinion polls show that the gap between Klitschko and the current head of Kyiv City State Administration, Oleksandr Popov, is around 5%.

There can be no other candidate from the opposition, than Klitschko, Yatseniuk said.
