MUNICH (AP) — The World Boxing Council has fined challenger Dereck Chisora for slapping heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko ahead of their title fight.

WBC president Jose Sulaiman says the British fighter was fined for his "unsportsmanlike behavior" on Friday.

Chisora slapped Klitschko across his left cheek with his open right hand and launched a series of insults at the Ukrainian during the weigh-in for the bout.

Sulaiman says Klitschko "behaved like a gentleman and kept calmed."

The WBC did not disclose how much Chisora was being fined for his "indiscipline and disrespect" but said that the proceeds would be split between two charities.

Klitschko promised that Chisora "will get his beating" at Munich’s Olympic Hall on Saturday.
