ALMATY - A film directed by Larry Charles, "The Dictator," has been removed from Kazakh movie theaters.

The company declined to elaborate.

The Kazakh premier of The Dictator took place on May 17, according to the Kino.kz website.

Two central parts in the movie, that of the dictator and his look-alike, a shepherd, were played by Sacha Baron Cohen, most famous for his films "Borat" (2006, banned in Kazakhstan) and "Bruno" (2009).

The film is about a dictator who comes to the United States for an important meeting. However, his trip turns into an ordeal after he is replaced by criminals with his look-alike.
