LONDON — Vitali Klitschko's promoter says David Haye would come out of retirement to fight the WBC heavyweight champion next year if a deal can be reached on financial terms.

Bernd Boente told Sky Sports on Tuesday that negotiations with Haye’s promoter Adam Booth are in progress for a possible bout in February or March.

Boente says "we are still waiting for some numbers from British TV and then we’ll see if the business case is realistic and then we will do the fight or Vitali will fight another opponent."

Haye, the former WBA champion, lost to Vitali’s younger brother Wladimir in July.

The British Boxing Board of Control said earlier Tuesday that Haye does not want to renew his license to fight.
