Sun worshipers, your day is coming.
The famous outdoor museum in Pirogovo, just outside Kyiv, will be hosting a celebration of Yarylo, the ancient pagan sun god.
Yarylo was believed to open fields with his magic key when spring arrives. Whatever that key was, in good old days Ukrainians believed that it was the men who were supposed to come out to the field with a plough in spring.
Yarylo worshipers will be treated with kulish, a traditional Cossack dish made out of grains, and other food and drinks. Arrow shooting and other activities are offered.
Yarylo feast. Pirogovo. April 29. 12 a.m. Hr 20, Hr 10 for kids
