Dec 18 (Reuters) - Ukraine, who were the only bidders after France, Croatia, Germany and Italy withdrew their joint bid last week, will host the European basketball championship in 2015, FIBA Europe announced on Sunday.
"The FIBA Europe Board decided on Sunday that Ukraine will be the host country of EuroBasket 2015," FIBA Europe, the European branch of the International Basketball Federation, said in a statement.
Last week, France, Germany, Italy and Croatia withdrew their bid citing "doubts regarding the professionalism and the lack of trust in the bidding process conducted by the European Basketball Federation, FIBA Europe."
FIBA Europe said last Wednesday they had been informed of the withdrawal and would "issue a reply as appropriate".
Ukraine are due to jointly host the Euro 2012 soccer tournament with Poland next June.
