Second-half goals from Anatoliy Tymoshchuk and Andriy Voronin gave Euro 2012 co-host Ukraine a 2-0 win over Uzbekistan in their friendly match in Kiev on Wendesday.

Bayern Munich midfielder Tymoshchuk completed a neat move on 54 minutes, lashing a shot across the goalkeeper and into the corner from the edge of the area.

Voronin doubled the lead minutes later, driving home a rebound after Oleh Husev’s free kick hit the crossbar.

Veteran forward Andriy Shevchenko missed an early chance to put the hosts head, rolling a close-range shot past the post.

Uzbekistan, ranked 56th in the world, battled in midfield but never posed an attacking threat.

Ukraine, which hosts the European championships along with Poland next year, welcomes France in another exhibition match on Monday.
