A leading Ukrainian designer of high-precision armaments, State Kyiv Design Bureau Luch, has presented for the first time the Sarmat combat module - at the Eurosatory-2014 exhibition in Paris.

The press service of Ukroboronprom Concern reported, referring to the
director of the high precision armament and ammunitions department of
the concern and the director of Luch bureau, Oleh Korostelev, the combat
module is designed to equip combat vehicles, small ships, and also
coast guard motorboats. Sarmat is designed to destroy at any time
stationary and mobile armored targets with combined, distributed and
monolithic armor. Among them there are targets with reactive armor,
small-size targets, like long-term fire units, hull-down position
targets, light armor objects, helicopters hovering overhead, surface
targets and other, the designer said.

“The complex comprises 4 RK-3 or two RK-2S guided missiles placed
into transporter-launching containers, produced by Luch. The operational
range of the complex while firing from its gun machine is up to 1.8
kilometers, while launching an RK-3 missile – 2.5 kilometers, and an
RK-2S – 5 kilometers. The navigation system of Izium Instrument-Making
Plant’s production (Ukroboronprom’s member-enterprise) ensures precise
targeting, as well as control over missile flight at ranges of up to 5.5
kilometers,” Korostelev said.

It is expected that the new Sarmat combat module will be of great
demand on the international armament market, Ukroboronprom said.
