You're reading: Ukraine’s Zlata Ognevich gets to Eurovision 2013 final

Ukraine's Zlata Ognevich has qualified for the final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2013, which will be held on May 18, according to the First National Channel.

The first semi-final of the contest took place in Sweden’s Malmo on May 14. Ognevich went on the stage under number seven to compete with her rivals from Austria, Estonia, Slovenia, Croatia, Denmark, Russia, Holland, Montenegro, Lithuania, Belarus, Moldova, Ireland, Cyprus, Belgium and Serbia.

According to the results of the public vote and the jury decision, 26-year-old Ognevich with her song Gravity proceeds to the finals.

The second semi-final of the competition will be held on May 16, according to the official Web site of Eurovision 2013.

According to the rules of Eurovision, ten winners from each semi-final go to the finals. The countries of the Big Five of the European Broadcasting Union, who founded the contest (Germany, Great Britain, France, Italy and Spain), as well as Sweden, the host of this year’s competition, qualify for the final automatically.
