Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has cut short his vacation and arrived at the Ivan Franko National Drama Theatre in Kyiv, where a memorial ceremony is taking place for the outstanding actor Bohdan Stupka, who passed away on Sunday morning.
Yanukovych expressed his condolences to Stupka's relatives, an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent reported.
The stage on which the coffin with the actor has been placed is covered in flowers.
Ukraine's former presidents, Leonid Kuchma and Viktor Yuschenko, members of the current government, Russian Ambassador to Ukraine Viktor Zurabov and Russian presidential envoy Viktor Zubkov are also present at the ceremony.
The flow of colleagues and admirers, who want to pay last respects to the great actor, is continuous.
The actor died at the age of 70 in the hospital of Feofania outside Kyiv on July 22 after a long illness.
