Some Hr 53 billion will be allocated from the 2013 national budget for the public health sphere, Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has said.

“In 2010 some Hr 40 billion was spent on public health, while in 2013 we are planning to allocate Hr 53 billion,” the premier said during a lecture for students of O. Bohomolets National Medical University in Kyiv on Thursday.

At the same time, Azarov admitted that this sum is not enough for the Ukrainian healthcare system. According to him, this amount is the highest possible one the government can afford during the economic crisis.

The premier also said that the implementation of reform in the public health sphere should be continued. He stressed that it is important to have highly-qualified experts for this purpose that could contribute to the reform implementation process at the local level.
