The sixth Europe-Ukraine forum is underway in the Hungarian capital of Budapest this Sunday, May 12, with more than 300 participants from Ukraine, the EU, other neighbouring countries and the US in attendance.
The forum, which is an annual event, will open with the Ukraine 2012 Report on Transformation prepared by the Gorshenin Institute, a Kyiv based think tank. Further discussion will be centered around the EU-Ukraine Assosiation Agreement and free trade area, Ukrainian political landscape, the rule of law, media in Ukraine, energy security and Ukraine’s investment climate.
The forum’s objective is “to create a conductive climate for developing political and economical cooperation between Ukraine and EU member states,” according to the press release.
The event will be attended by experts, members of parliaments, government officials and journalists. Andrii Olefirov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, will be representing the government, according to the press announcement.
The forum will resume on May 14.
The first Europe-Ukraine forum took place in 2007 in Poland. Afterwards most of the events were held annually in Kyiv.
