You're reading: Administrative reform to gradually leave half of government officials without jobs

Administrative reform in Ukraine will take more than a year and over 50% of government officials will be laid off, Justice Minister Oleksandr Lavrynovych has said.

"This will be a process that will take more than a year, but it is clear that our aim is to achieve the rate needed for effective management, and the total number [of government officials] will be reduced by more than 50%," the Justice Minister said at a press conference in Kyiv on Friday.

According to Lavrynovych, as a part of the administrative reform, the Justice Ministry has drafted a comprehensive package of documents that will be submitted to parliament this week.

Lavrynovych also said that those government officials dismissed during the administrative reform would be helped to find another job in the private or state sector.
