Moscow - Syrian President Bashar Assad believes the destabilization of the situation in Syria and Ukraine is aimed at weakening Russia.

“There is a connection between the Syrian crisis and the events taking place in Ukraine. Firstly, both countries have significance to Russia, and secondly, in both cases the goal is to weaken Russia and create puppet states,” Assad said in an interview with Rossiyskaya Gazeta. The interview will be published in the March 27 edition of the paper.
