The reorganized Cabinet of Ministers held its first organizational meeting on Friday, the press service of the prime minister has told Interfax-Ukraine.

"The first organizational meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers formed under the president’s decree on the optimization [of the system of central executive agencies] has been held," the press service reported.

Prime Minister Mykola Azarov ordered vice premiers and ministers to ensure their duties are carried out in full. The premier also ordered the ministers to urgently start the procedure of eliminating and reorganizing ministries and departments, and to take measures to reduce the number of executive agencies, while at the same time creating new bodies.

According to Azarov, the administrative reform is aimed at bringing a new level of quality to the cooperation between the central executive agencies and the agencies of local government. The premier also said that the elimination and reorganization must take into account the interests of the people working in these agencies. Azarov said that it was necessary to leave as many professionals at their posts as possible.
