The merger of the Strong Ukraine Party with the Regions Party will take at least two months, Ukrainian Prime Minister and Regions leader Mykola Azarov has said.

"This will definitely take a couple of months," he said at a press conference in Kyiv on Tuesday.

Azarov said that first and foremost, the sides would set up a working group that will work out proposals on the merger of the two parties, and hold congresses of both parties, at which all of the necessary decisions will be taken, and then hold a unification congress that will see the final formation of the united party.

Azarov also said that the process of extending the Regions Party would not end, and that other politicians and parties would join in this process.

Strong Ukraine Party leader and Deputy Prime Minister Sergiy Tigipko and Azarov announced the initiative to unite Strong Ukraine and the Regions Party. Azarov said the Regions Party was ready to unite with all political forces that want to carry out reforms in Ukraine.
