Kyiv is grateful to Brussels for its support of the processes to enhance the country's energy independence, Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has said.

“During today’s talks, we also dwelled on the issue of energy
independence of Ukraine and its role in the formation of the European
energy market. We are grateful to European partners for the support of
Ukraine in implementation of these goals,” he said at a press conference
in Luxembourg on Monday, after a meeting of the Ukraine – European
Union Cooperation Council.

Azarov said that they were also discussing the use of the capacity of
the Ukrainian gas transportation system, the Ukrainian underground gas
storage facilities and the transformation of Ukraine into a European
energy hub.
