Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has said that the country will consume as much Russian gas as necessary for its utilities and the national economy, and to prepare for winter.

“We will consume as much gas as is necessary for our housing and
utilities sector, for our economy, and for the preparations for the
winter, and not a billion [cubic meters] more. And the figure laid down
in this infamous [2009 gas] contract, let it be on the conscience of
those who signed the contract from the Ukrainian side,” Azarov said on
Saturday in the village of Rodnykove, Simferopol district.
