You're reading: Baloha resigns as emergencies minister

Outgoing Ukrainian Emergencies Minister Viktor Baloha, who was elected an MP in a single-seat constituency in the Oct. 28 parliamentary elections, has thanked the employees of the ministry for their work.

“My tenure as Ukraine’s emergency situations minister is ending, in connection with my election as a people’s deputy of Ukraine. I’m sincerely grateful to the personnel and all employees of the system of the Emergencies Ministry for their cooperation in resolving the tasks assigned, for their professionalism and dedication to their work,” he said in his address, which was posted on the Emergencies Ministry’s Web site on Tuesday.

Baloha said he was confident that the Emergencies Ministry’s staff would continue to be loyal to the slogan of Ukrainian rescuers – “Prevent. Save. Help” – and ensure the safety of all Ukrainian citizens.
