You're reading: Batkivschyna member wins in troubled 211 constituency in Kyiv

With all the ballots counted in single-member constituency No. 211 in Kyiv, a candidate of the Batkivschyna All-Ukrainian Union Serhiy Teriokhin took the majority of the vote (30.4%).

He was ahead of a candidate of the Party of Regions, Ihor Lysov, who got 26.51% of the vote and a candidate of the UDAR party, Mykola Babenko, who received 26.2%.

This constituency was one of the troubled ones, where the tabulation lasted rather long.

The Web site of the Batkivschyna United Opposition reported on Friday evening that as a result of a scuffle at district election constituency No. 211 during the recount of ballots in Ukraine’s parliamentary elections, MP Serhiy Teriokhin of the BYT-Batkivschyna faction had a rib and a finger broken.

The Batkivschyna said they complained to the police leadership about the presence of law-enforcement officers at the constituency.

In turn, the main department of Kyiv police told Interfax-Ukraine that a conflict and a scuffle started between lawmakers who were present at constituency No. 211. The commission members decided to call the police. The police said they intervened to stabilize the situation. They said they had no information about Teriokhin’s injuries.

Thus, only one constituency in Kyiv hasn’t counted all the ballots yet. This is constituency No. 223, where with 86.13% of ballots counted, the struggle continues between self-nominee Viktor Pylypyshyn, who took 23,359 votes, and a representative of the Svoboda All-Ukrainian Union, Yuriy Levchenko, who received 23,328 votes.
