The Batkivschyna Party, led by fomer Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, intends to obtain 70% of seats at city councils of Kyiv region at local elections scheduled for October 31.

This was announced by Verkhovna Rada deputy of the Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc faction and chairman of the regional organization of the party Kostiantyn Bondarev.

According to his report, the Strong Ukraine and Front of Changes parties will fail to take part at local elections due to limitations envisioned on combined, majority-proportional, election system.

The politician expressed his confidence in ability of the Batkivschyna party to obtain more seats than the Party of Regions thanks to candidates nominated by majority constituencies.
