A draft law on the ratification of an agreement setting up a free trade area with CIS member states has been registered in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and submitted to its leadership.

According to the official Web site of the Ukrainian parliament, the document was registered on Tuesday, July 24, as No. 0266.

The text of the document is yet to be posted on the Web site.

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych is the initiator of the bill.

As reported, on October 18, 2011 in St. Petersburg, the prime ministers of the CIS member states, including Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov, signed an agreement setting up a free trade area with CIS member states.

Yanukovych said in Moscow on May 15 that Ukraine plans soon to ratify the agreement on the free trade area within CIS countries. On July 12 in Yalta, Russian President Vladimir Putin recalled that Ukraine had not ratified the FTA agreement, although it initiated the signing of this document.
