Ukraine's former premiers Yulia Tymoshenko and Pavlo Lazarenko were trying to register the United Energy System of Ukraine corporation's debt to the Russian Defense Ministry as the government obligation, the head of the Verkhovna Rada's ad hoc commission for inquiry into the circumstances of the conclusion of the 2009 gas agreements between Ukraine and Russia, Inna Bohoslovska, has said.

"No one has ever said that Tymoshenko’s company United Energy Systems of Ukraine did manage to register its commercial debt as the government’s liability. A criminal case against Tymoshenko and Lazarenko has been opened for an attempt, I repeat – an attempt to transfer the debt of a private company into the state budget," the press service of the Party of Regions quoted Bohoslovska as saying on Monday.

"We have documentary evidence that such attempts were made repeatedly," she added.
