You're reading: BYT claims to block cards of lawmakers-absentees

The BYT is demanding from Speaker Volodymyr Lytvyn that he blocks cards of lawmakers, who permanently are absent at the sessions of the Verkhovna Rada.

An announcement spread by the bloc’s press service gave the claim.

"With efforts of the Party of Regions, the speaker and political ‘loosers’ the Verkhovna Rada is turning into a mechanism of total power usurpation and propagation of dictatorship of one political clan from the state’s legislation body," the BYT said.

"Thanks to manipulations with election law, Viktor Yanukovych occupied the president post using fraudulent practices. Now the same methods are used in the formation of the coalition in the parliament, and the same would be the new government," reads the statement.

The document says that "newly-made saviors have appeared," apart from some lawmakers, and it is shameful for most of them to come to the session hall.

"The faction addressed to Lytvyn asking to block cards of those MPs, who permanently fail to attend the parliament sessions, and unknown persons use the cards to vote, trying to carry out coup d’etat," the BYT said.
