The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has postponed the introduction of new excise labels on alcohol and tobacco from August 1 to September 1, 2013.

Cabinet resolution No. 474 of July 3, 2013 has been posted on the government’s web site.

According to the resolution, the Income and Tax Ministry is to ensure the production of new excise labels by August 25, 2013 instead of July 20, 2013.

As reported, early June the Income and Tax Ministry of Ukraine proposed postponing new excise labels for alcohol and tobacco and giving enough time for the supply of new excise labels to all companies, preventing the stoppage of alcohol and tobacco production and imports, and ensuring payments to the budget are made in full.

Earlier, the government postponed the introduction of new excise labels for alcohol and tobacco from May 1, 2013 to August 1, 2013. The terms were postponed due to the necessity to carry out a stocktaking of the excise labels at sellers and companies and for the execution of the requirements of the law on government procurement.

In addition, it was expected that the price of new excise labels will be increased by 2.6 times: the fee for an excise label for alcohol will be Hr 0.27 per label instead of Hr 0.103, and that for tobacco – Hr 0.142 per label instead of Hr 0.055.
