You're reading: Court postpones hearing of Tymoshenko appeal until Dec 14

A panel of judges of Kyiv's Court of Appeals, which is considering the lawsuit against the seven-year prison sentence given to former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, has postponed consideration of the appeal until 10.00 on Dec. 14.

The court announced a respective decision at its session on Tuesday.

"The consideration of … the Tymoshenko appeal… has been moved to 1000 on Dec. 14, 2011," reads the court’s decision.

The court took into account the fact that Tymoshenko had not been delivered to the court for the hearing of the appeal on Tuesday, having sent a statement to the court that she cannot attend the court session due to poor health, as well as the fact that along with its statement, the court received a medical certificate stating the absence of any reasons for Tymoshenko not to participate in the court session.

The court’s decision also notes: "The court finds it necessary to announce a break to provide another opportunity for Tymoshenko to participate in the session and request certificates from the leadership of the jail about the state of her health."
