Pechersky District Court in Kyiv will continue hearing a criminal case against Oleksiy Pukach, the former head of the Ukrainian Interior Ministry's foreign surveillance department, at 10.30 on Aug. 16.

Valentyna Telychenko, the lawyer for journalist Georgy Gongadze’s widow Myroslava Gongadze, told reporters after the court’s sitting that the court will continue to explore the issue of state secrets contained in the indictment.

In her opinion, the prosecution committed a series of violations during the pretrial inquiry, in particular when it classified certain parts of the case materials.

"Some of the material should be secret, indeed, but some of the material was wrongly classified as secret," Telychenko said.

According to her, relevant petitions have been filed to declassify certain materials, so that the injured party and the public can watch the trial.

The court announced that it needed additional time to decide on this issue and announced a break until 103.0 on Tuesday, Aug. 16.
