The Higher Specialized Court of Ukraine for civil and criminal cases has postponed the hearing of former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko's appeal against her sentence in the gas supply case until July 12.

The panel of judges of the Higher Specialized Court passed this ruling on Tuesday, June 26.

The court earlier already postponed the hearing demanding the presence of the ex-premier at the sitting.

The court earlier already postponed the hearing demanding the presence of the ex-premier at the sitting.

Thus the judges granted the petition of the prosecution and postponed the sitting until 1000 on July 12, the presiding judge Stanislav Mischenko said.

According to him, the court decided to grant the petition because it needs the information about Tymoshenko’s health, which could be provided by the forensic medical examination ordered by a Kharkiv court.

As reported, State prosecutor Oksana Drohobytska asked the Higher Specialized Court on Tuesday to postpone the trial until a medical examination of Tymoshenko is done.

Previously, Kyivsky District Court of Kharkiv, which is considering a criminal case against the ex-premier on the activities of the United Energy Systems of Ukraine (UESU), satisfied a petition by the prosecution and ordered there to be a medical examination of the ex-premier. The court said that the case lacked official information on the state of health of the defendant.

The court scheduled its next hearing on Tymoshenko’s UESU case for July 12.

The judge said if Tymoshenko refused to undergo the examination, experts would have to base their conclusions on the available medical documents.
