MARSEILLE, France (AP) — The daughter of Yulia Tymoshenko says the former Ukrainian prime minister is bedridden in bad health and being denied medical care while locked up in a Kyiv prison cell.

Eugenia Carr-Tymoshenko says her mother can no longer walk four months into a seven-year prison sentence on corruption charges.

Critics have called the charges politically motivated actions by the government of President Viktor Yanukovych.

Tymoshenko’s 31-year-old daughter spoke Thursday to The Associated Press at a center-right European People’s Party congress in France.

A photo of her mother — who would have attended — sat in an empty seat.

EPP delegates voted Wednesday to urge Ukraine’s government to let EU doctors check on the health of Tymoshenko and two other jailed ex-officials.
