Several hundred residents of the Ukrainian city of Rivne have entered the building of Rivne Regional Administration, demanding a meeting with senior officials, local online-based media outlets said.

Activists broke glass windows and the door before entering the lobby where they sang the Ukrainian anthem.

There are also several thousand citizens outside the building, media outlets said. They are asking the administration officials to come out.

Earlier, protesters entered the building of Lviv Regional Administration.

Lviv Regional State Administration Chief Oleh Salo will complain to prosecutors after being forced to write a letter of resignation, the administration’s press office said.

“Seeing the unruly people, the lack of leadership, and realizing their reluctance to talk, and also worrying about the health and safety of Lviv Regional State Administration staff, I wrote this letter (of resignation),” Salo was quoted as saying by the administration’s press office.

Salo will ask the prosecutor’s office “to look into this situation” in which the letter was written under coercion.

It was reported that on Thursday Lviv residents occupied the building of Lviv Regional State Administration. When Salo drove up to the building, the picketers demanded that he sign the letter of resignation, which he did.

Salo is not at the administration building, sources in the regional administration told Interfax-Ukraine.
