BRUSSELS – The European Union is disappointed at the sentence passed on former Ukrainian Interior Minister Yuriy Lutsenko, and views it as evidence that judicial practice in Ukraine is continuing to fall short of international standards.

EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission Catherine Ashton and EU Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Stefan Fule said this in a joint statement, a copy of which was given to Interfax-Ukraine in Brussels on Monday.
