You're reading: EU Foreign Affairs Council to discuss situation in Eastern Partnership member states

The Foreign Affairs Council of the European Union will hold a meeting on Monday to discuss the situation in the Eastern Partnership member states.

The discussion will take place in Luxembourg before the upcoming
meeting of the EU-Ukraine Cooperation Council, which is scheduled for
the same day.

Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade of Ireland Eamon Gilmore will chair the meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council.

An Interfax-Ukraine reporter was told at the European Commission that
the agenda of the EU-Ukraine Cooperation Council’s meeting includes the
key issues related to the upcoming Eastern Partnership Summit in
Vilnius.

During the council meeting, the foreign ministers intend to discuss
diplomatic issues in the sphere of climate change and the regulation of
the situation in the Middle East, Afghanistan, Syria, and western
Balkans.

NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen will also participate in a discussion of the Afghanistan issue.
