The European Union hasn't put forward any official demand that the jailed former prime minister and interior minister of Ukraine, Yulia Tymoshenko and Yuriy Lutsenko, take part in the upcoming parliamentary elections, Head of the European Union's Delegation to Ukraine Jose Manuel Pinto Teixeira has said.

"The EU hasn’t put forward any official demands on this matter," the diplomat said at a press conference in the Institute of World Policy in Kyiv, when asked whether the EU will recognize the parliamentary elections in Ukraine if Tymoshenko and Lutsenko do not participate in them.

At the same time, he noted that European politicians have repeatedly expressed concern over the situation with the jailed opposition leaders in Ukraine.
