Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine Jose Manuel Pinto Teixeira has asked Ukrainian talk show host Savik Shuster to better convey the position of the European Union concerning relations between Kyiv and Brussels in his Shuster Live TV program.

"I’ve noted that lately the topics of EU-Ukraine relations were widely discussed in your talk shows on Fridays. I was surprised that the EU’s position in your discussions wasn’t presented by corresponding legitimate EU representatives," Teixeira wrote in a letter to Shuster obtained by Interfax-Ukraine.

The head of the EU delegation complained that because there were no guests on the show qualified to properly explain the EU position, the debates on the show "were incomplete" and viewers were being deprived of the chance to hear the EU’s position.

"Taking this into consideration, I would like to remind you that on Oct. 14 I was invited to your talk show, although, unfortunately, the invitation was canceled at the last moment," Teixeira wrote, explaining his desire to participate in this TV program to express the point of view of the EU concerning its relations with Ukraine.

"I think this would be very useful for you audience, Ukraine’s citizens, so that they can be well informed about this subject, which is very important for their future," he said.
