EU Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy Stefan Fule may visit former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko in jail during his visit to Ukraine, Interfax-Ukraine learned at the EU Delegation to Ukraine.
"This issue is being considered, but there is no final program of Fule’s visit to Ukraine yet," the spokesman said when asked about the possibility of Fule’s visiting Tymoshenko.
According to the EU Delegation, Fule will arrive in Ukraine at around 17.00 on Monday, Dec. 12, and will stay in Kyiv until midday on Tuesday.
The European Commissioner is to meet with Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych on Monday evening, and the rest of his meetings are likely to take place in the first half of Tuesday.
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry confirmed that Fule would meet with Foreign Minister Kostiantyn Hryschenko.
