You're reading: European Union to send over 700 observers to monitor Ukraine’s presidential elections

The European Union member-states will send over 700 observers to monitor the upcoming presidential elections in Ukraine.

Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Petro Poroshenko said this at Boryspil Airport on Tuesday upon his arrival from Brussels.

"The OSCE will send over 600, whereas the overall number of observer, which will represent the EU countries, will be more than 700," Poroshenko said.

He added that the EU is very interested in Ukrainian elections, which will take place on January 17, 2010.
