You're reading: Ex-vice premier Semynozhenko appointed head of state innovation committee

Former Deputy Prime Minister Volodymyr Semynozhenko has been appointed head of the State Committee for Science, Innovation and Information Support, his spokeswoman Maryna Petkova told Interfax-Ukraine on Monday.

She said that a respective decision had been taken at a government meeting on Monday, July 5.

Petkova also said that Semynozhenko had been appointed an adviser to Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov.

As reported, the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine’s parliament, dismissed Semynozhenko as deputy prime minister on July 2.

Semynozhenko was appointed vice-premier on March 11, 2010. He served as vice-premier in 1999, 2001-2002, and as science and technology minister in 1996-1997, 1997-1998. He was a lawmaker of three convocations.

The Cabinet of Ministers has not yet published the decision.
