Experts do not rule out that People's Party leader and Parliament Speaker Volodymyr Lytvyn and some of his party members could join the Regions Party.

"For example, it is absolutely possible that this will happen with the Lytvyn-led party," President of the Open Policy Analytical Center Ihor Zhdanov said at a press conference in Kyiv on Friday, while commenting on the possibility of individual party members, rather than all parties joining the Regions Party.

"The People’s Party will remain, while Lytvyn and some of his colleagues will join the Regions Party, or they could simply be included as non-party members on the list of the Regions Party," he said.

As reported, Strong Ukraine Party leader and Deputy Prime Minister Sergiy Tigipko announced his party’s intention to team up with the Regions Party.

Incumbent President Viktor Yanukovych earlier led the Regions Party. After his election as Ukrainian president, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov became the leader of the party, whereas Yanukovych became its honorary chairman.
