You're reading: Expert predicts victory for Regions Party in third of majority districts

The Regions Party could win in the parliamentary elections in a third of the majority districts, and the opposition in 40-45 districts, Director of the Penta Center for Applied Political Studies Volodymyr Fesenko has said.

"According to my estimates, the Regions Party can currently claim victory in no more than a third of majority districts. As for the opposition, the situation is more complicated. According to my estimates, opposition members may seriously claim victory in 40-45 districts," he said at a press conference on Wednesday.

According to the expert, this does not concern the 100 districts that were mentioned as targets by the opposition.

Fesenko said that if the Constitutional Court issues a ruling banning one candidate from simultaneously running on a party list and in a majority constituency, "then the chances of the opposition are even worse."

He also added that the opposition could currently claim victory in constituencies in Halychyna, in about half of the constituencies in Volyn region, as well as half of the constituencies in Kyiv city and Kyiv region.
