Ukraine's Finance Ministry has analyzed applications from 67 candidates competing for the post of the State Fiscal Service, and shortlisted 47 candidates for the second round of the competition.

Among the shortlisted are acting head of the service Maksym Mokliak, former deputy finance minister Denys Fudashkin, head of the parliament’s committee for taxation and customs policy Roman Nasyrov, members of this committee Oksana Prodan and Nina Yuzhanina, and MP Valeriy Patskan (all the four are members of the Bloc of Petro Poroshenko), the ministry announced on April 21 evening.

Deputy Director General of Ukrlandfarming agroholding and former investment banker Ihor Petrashko, former MP Mykola Katerynchuk, Yaroslav Yuschenko, a nephew of the fourth president of independent Ukraine Viktor Yuschenko, as well as former chairperson of Providna insurance company’s board Iryna Sirenko also entered the second round.

All the shortlisted candidates will participate in public hearings scheduled for April 23, after which the finance minister will submit his proposals as for the possible nominees to the prime minister.

As reported, on March 23, the Cabinet announced the results of an official investigation into the activities of the State Fiscal Service leadership, conducted by a commission headed by Minister of Economic Development and Trade Aivaras Abromavicius. The commission recommended that the Cabinet should dismiss Khomenko and Makarenko, but leave Bilous at his post under the condition that he provides a plan to improve the work of the Fiscal Service.

However, Bilous instead submitted his resignation. Prime Minister Yatsenyuk accepted the resignation and also dismissed Khomenko and Makarenko.
