Preparations are underway for Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych's visit to China, but the date of the visit and its format have not been determined, the director of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry's information policy department, Oleh Voloshyn, has said.

He said at a briefing in Kyiv on Tuesday that Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kostiantyn Hryschenko’s official visit to China started on July 17.

During this visit, the minister and his Chinese counterpart discussed the state of Ukrainian-Chinese relations and the pace of the implementation of agreements reached during Yanukovych’s visit to China in September 2010 and Chinese President Hu Jintao’s visit to Ukraine in June 2011.

The parties also discussed the schedule of bilateral visits and preparations for the Ukrainian president’s future visit to Beijing.

“It’s too early to speak about dates, but the visit is being prepared for,” Voloshyn said.
