Brussels – The way former Ukrainian Premier Yulia Tymoshenko is treated is not in line with the principles and values of the EU-Ukraine partnership, European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Stefan Fule has said.

"Tymoshenko and others are not treated in line with principles and values which underpin EU-Ukraine partnership: it’s visible and painful stain on Ukraine," Fule wrote on his page in Twitter on Wednesday.

As reported, on April 24 the ex-premier’s defence lawyer, Serhiy Vlasenko, published his client’s statement, according to which Tymoshenko was transported to hospital on April 20 by force. The lawyer also said that Tymoshenko went on hunger strike.

The State Penitentiary Service rejected Tymoshenko’s statement and said it would appeal to court against her defence team.
