You're reading: Government submits bill to parliament allowing claims against Russia in Ukrainian courts

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has sent a draft law to the Verkhovna Rada which would allow claims against foreign states accused of illegal actions against Ukrainian citizens or companies to be heard in Ukrainian courts.

Draft law No. 2380 on jurisdiction immunity and the responsibility of foreign states was registered in the parliament on March 16.

The documents have not yet been posted on the parliament’s website.

As reported, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk at a cabinet meeting on March 11 said that the cabinet would soon ask the parliament to pass the law on the jurisdiction and property immunity of foreign states.
