The Health Ministry of Ukraine has said it is concerned about the lengthy treatment of former Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko in Kharkiv hospital, and does not rule out that the behavior of both the patient and her German doctors is politically motivated.

“Ukrainian doctors do not rule out political reasons behind the
situation [around Tymoshenko’s treatment], apart from purely medical
ones. In particular, they note the behavior of the patient, who
continues to complain about the lack of relief, and that of German
physicians who, for reasons unknown to Ukrainian doctors, do not want to
draw conclusions about Tymoshenko’s state of health and the period of
her further presence in Central Clinical Hospital No. 5, which was
chosen for Tymoshenko by the German doctors,” reads a statement,
published on the Web site of the Health Ministry on Friday.

The Health Ministry is concerned by the fact that the rehabilitation
of Tymoshenko in hospital has lasted for almost three months now.

“Such a long period of treatment is unacceptable in international
medical practice and is not characteristic for the treatment of such a
common disease as that which was diagnosed in the patient. In addition,
it is possible that this may lead to negative consequences for the
patient,” the ministry said.
