You're reading: Interior Ministry: 5,600 law enforcers to maintain order at elections

A total of 5,590 law enforcers will be involved in ensuring order during the parliamentary elections at polling stations, the Central Election Commission and district elections commissions in Kyiv, Head of Kyiv office of the Interior Ministry of Ukraine Oleksandr Tereschuk has said. 

“In addition, nearly 500 members of Kyiv city people’s formation for protection of public order and the state border will be engaged [policing] the territories next to polling stations,” he said at a briefing in Kyiv on Friday.

Tereschuk also said that since the beginning of the election campaign on August 28, Kyiv office of the Interior Ministry had registered 244 reports of election process violations. During an inspection, 58 reports were entered into the unified state registry of pre-trial investigations, and criminal proceedings were opened into these offences.

Administrative protocols were drown up in relation to 14 people, who had violated the requirements of administrative laws.
