The Ukrainian police will take all necessary measures to secure public order during the upcoming parliamentary elections, Deputy Interior Minister of Ukraine Viktor Ratushniak has said at a meeting with the OSCE/ODIHR Election Observation Mission.

“I promise that the law enforcement agencies will take all of the
necessary legal measures to secure public order during the elections,”
he said during a meeting with Head of the OSCE/ODIHR Election
Observation Mission to the Parliamentary Elections in Ukraine Audrey
Glover in Kyiv on Monday, October 15, according to the public liaisons
department of the Interior Ministry of Ukraine.

Ratushniak briefed the delegates on the key tasks the police will carry out during the elections.

“Speaking about signals received by the police during the elections,
the majority of them are not related to crimes or law offences, nor are
they related directly to violations of the election legislation and
abuse of voters’ rights,” the deputy minister said.

He added that all reports from the participants of the election process are registered and checked by the police.

Ratushniak added that the Interior Ministry and all of its
departments have opened operative headquarters that will work around the
clock during the elections.

He also noted that everyone can view the statistics data about the
elections on the Web site of the Interior Ministry. In addition, there
is a section “Elections 2012” on the ministry’s Web site, which contains
information about the work of law enforcers during the election
campaign and the preparations for the parliamentary elections in
Ukraine.
