Kharkiv – The commissioner for human rights, Nina Karpachova, has examined the medical unit of the Kachanivska penal colony and stated that former Ukrainian Premier Yulia Tymoshenko can be treated only outside it.

"The level is quite decent for elementary aid, while speaking about special medical treatment, it can be provided only outside the colony," the ombudsman said, while summing up the results of her visit to the colony and a meeting with Tymoshenko on April 25 in the evening.

Karpachova also described current mental state of Tymoshenko as "excited."

The ombudsman said that she had talked to Tymoshenko’s new cellmates, who told her that Tymoshenko did not eat anything and only drank water.
